Small businesses are the heart of the American economy, and to support the future of small business owners, our firm created the Entrepreneur Endorsement Scholarship. Founded in August 2015, the goal of the Entrepreneur Endorsement Scholarship is to help young entrepreneurs pay for their education while also promoting a strong聽community of passionate and innovative future entrepreneurs.
The selection of the recipient has been a long and difficult process. Seeing what the future of small business looks like for America is truly inspiring, especially when there are so many dedicated applicants to choose from. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our applicants for taking the time to apply and praise you for your talent, hard work, and commitment.
After carefully considering a number of impressive applicants, we are excited to announce the official winner of the Fall 2019 Entrepreneur Endorsement Scholarship: Daniel Naqui!
Daniel is a proud entrepreneur who will be attending The University of Miami (FL) for the fall of 2019. Daniel has a passion for entrepreneurship, proven by starting his own business while in high school surrounding all things sports, including shoes, memorabilia, etc. Daniel is also an avid volunteer, who loves to dedicate time towards the special needs community, church, and other local organizations. His hobbies also include weightlifting, running, and photography. In short, Daniel is nothing less than excited to study economics at 鈥淭he U鈥�!
Our scholarship essay asked applicants:聽If you could start a company or business with a celebrity (dead or alive), whom would it be and why? Also, what type of company or business would you start with that celebrity and why?
Here is an excerpt from Daniel’s winning essay:
“We all have goals and aspirations bundled up in our thoughts, just begging for a chance to be explored. Granted, some of those goals may be more challenging than the rest, but that makes its accomplishment even more rewarding. After having run my own online sports memorabilia business for the past four years of high school, one of my goals has always been to open my own official business. In particular, I hope to one day start such a business as a partnership with New York Yankee, Alex Rodriguez. But, why Alex Rodriguez? Well, he’s the founder of A-ROD Corp, has the capital to make investments and fulfill purchase orders, and carries the networking capabilities that only one can dream of. Most importantly, Rodriguez has a burning passion for business. Despite being a successful baseball player for over twenty years, his truest passion as a kid was for business. His goal was to become CEO of a company. Since retiring in 2014, Rodriguez has spent his time acquainting himself with business legends and has even been a guest “shark” on the entrepreneurial-based investment TV show “Shark Tank.” Not to mention my slight biases towards one of my idols growing up. I met Rodriguez at the age of eleven at a Yankees spring training game and even received his autograph (one of the only ones that I wouldn’t sell). Being a die-hard Yankees fan, I would have to learn how to control my emotions while working with such a New York baseball icon.”
